Daltonganj, June 11: A highly venomous krait measuring about three-and-a-half feet was rescued from a house in Bareysarn village of Palamu district by a team of Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) personnel led by Forester-in-Charge Saket Pandey.

The snake was found inside the house of Shankar Yadav. Following the rescue operation, the reptile was safely secured in a container and later released in the Duarseni forests, around four kilometres away from the residence.

PTR Team Carries Out Safe Rescue Operation
The rescue and release operation was conducted by a PTR team comprising Aman, Anand and Gaurav under the leadership of Saket Pandey.

The team ensured the safe removal of the snake without causing harm to either the reptile or the residents. Their prompt response brought relief to Yadav’s family, which had been concerned about the presence of the highly venomous snake inside the house.
Changing Climate Bringing Snakes Closer to Human Habitations
According to forest officials, variations in climate and environmental conditions are increasingly leading to snakes moving closer to human settlements in search of shelter and suitable habitats.
Officials also noted that snakes do not have any known tendency to return to the same location after being relocated, contrary to popular myths often portrayed in films.
