Dhanbad, March 7: Ashish Narayan, an alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Microsoft Innovation Hub at Wipro. A graduate of the 1993-97 B.Tech batch, Narayan previously served as the Chief Architect for Cloud Migration and Modernization at Wipro.

In his previous role, he played a key role in driving multi-cloud adoption, General AI, GreenOps, and implementing the well-architected framework. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in advancing technological solutions within the company.

Extensive Professional Journey

Narayan began his career at Tata Steel in July 1997, serving as a senior officer in mechanical and electrical maintenance management until December 1999.

Over the years, he held several significant positions, including senior software engineer at Provillage Softwares Pvt Ltd (2000-2001), software engineer at eSpark Infotech (2002), and member technical staff at HCL Technologies (2002-2004).

He later joined Oracle as a senior member technical staff (2004-2006) before taking on various roles at Wipro from 2006 to 2017. He then moved to Wells Fargo, where he held senior leadership positions from 2017 to 2021, before rejoining Wipro in October 2021.

Recognitions and Achievements

Narayan has received numerous accolades throughout his career. He was honored with the Wipro Applied Innovation Award in July 2006 and later received the Best QA Transition Architect Award in May 2012. In January 2013, he was recognized with the Best Retail Architect Award.

Ashok Kumar, General Secretary of PAN IIT Alumni, praised Narayan’s achievement, stating that his success reflects IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s nearly century-long commitment to excellence in education and research. He added that Narayan’s journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring engineers and innovators.
