Dhanbad, May 15: A CSR-funded certification course aimed at empowering underprivileged students with data analysis skills was inaugurated at IIT ISM Dhanbad on Thursday.

The program, launched by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, is designed to equip students from marginalized communities in Dhanbad with essential data literacy and analytical capabilities.

It is supported by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the Central Coalfields Steel Organization (CCSO) and the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The inauguration ceremony featured SAIL’s Chief General Manager (HR), Sanjay Tewary, as the chief guest. He emphasized the growing importance of digital and analytical skills in shaping the future of India’s youth. General Manager (HR) Y.K. Paswan and Head (Finance) S.K. Sahu also addressed the gathering, reaffirming SAIL’s commitment to inclusive development through educational outreach.
Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT ISM, presided over the event and highlighted the institute’s dedication to creating social impact through academic excellence.

Prof. Niladri Das, Head of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, commended the collaborative effort that brought the initiative to life.

The course is being conducted under the academic leadership of Prof. Shashank Bansal and Prof. Himanshu Gupta, both of whom bring extensive expertise in data analytics and management education. They aim to provide participants with practical, industry-relevant knowledge to enhance employability and digital proficiency.
