Dhanbad, Nov 29: The Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) Foundation of IIT Indian School of Mines ISM) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Bokaro for providing skill training to the women of the underprivileged section of the society.
Prof Saumya Singh, director of ACIC Foundation of IIT ISM Dhanbad and Chaudhary Ratnesh Kumar Sudhanshu, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head of SAIL Bokaro signed the MoA.

60 women to be trained in handloom sector
The training that will commence in the first week of December 2023 aims to empower and develop the capabilities of 60 women.
Under the terms of the MoA, the team at ACIC Foundation will undertake the task of providing training to underprivileged women living in the vicinity of SAIL Bokaro. “The training programme will initially focus on the handloom sector, encompassing skills related to Jute, Bamboo, and Lac crafts,” said Prof Saumya Singh.

Officials call for collective commitment
Rajan Prasad, executive director, SAIL Bokaro; Manish Jalota, CGM HRD and Kundan Kumar CGM TA were present during the MoA signing and emphasized the collective commitment towards the initiative.
The officials said the MoA not only marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership between two institutions but also paves the way for anticipated support and a shared vision of growth. With this collaboration, both entities aim to embark on a journey of mutual learning and progress, leveraging their respective strengths and expertise to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged women.
