IIT ISM Dhanbad: V-P asks engineering grads to think ‘out of box’ to cope with global development pace

Dhanbad, Dec. 10: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar today urged the engineering graduates to research ‘Quantum Computing and Machine Learning’.

The vice president, who was addressing the 43rd convocation of IIT ISM Dhanbad, said that they have a technology facility to learn more. “When we talk about technology, we find the world is changing rapidly.  Think out of line for innovation to cope with up pace of development in the globe,” he said.
“So find out what is quantum computing and machine learning. The country is already working on this field,” he said. He also asked the students to associate with the technology development of the country as India is the leading nation in green hydrogen, machine learning and quantum computing.

Quantum computing is a multidisciplinary field comprising aspects of computer science, physics, and mathematics that utilizes quantum mechanics to solve complex problems faster than on classical computers.

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Jharkhand health minister Banna Gupta, IIT-ISM Board of Governing chairman Dr Prem Vrat, Director JK Pattanayak were also present on the occasion.

Gold medals to 39 students

Vice-President Dhankhar presented gold medals to 39 students of B. Tech of the institution.
“When you act on a vision with passion in a mission mode, the results are bound to be rewarding. Our Bharat is witnessing these results at all levels, be it in villages, semi-urban areas, urban areas or metros. The impact is being felt all around,” he said.

“The amendments in the Mines and Minerals Development Regulation Act have been made keeping your contributions in mind. They make available new opportunities for you. The role of the state has been rationalised to the extent of fiscal direction,” he said.

Dhankhar also urged the alumni of the institute to come together with other alumni associations and evolve a confederation of such associations to catalyse change.
While appreciating the achievement of the country in science and technology, the vice-president said that among the top 10 Convention Centres in the world, two are in India Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhum.

Jharkhand governor

The governor urged the students to use their educational skill not only to shape their careers but also to contribute to the betterment of society.

“You all are privileged to be a graduate of one of the premier educational institutions in our country. There are several youths who, due to poverty, are unable to pursue higher education,” he told the IIT-ISM graduates.
