The World Bank has reckoned that what India has accomplished in 6 years for digital inclusion, the world typically takes 47 years to do the same.”
XLRI’s platinum jubilee celebration
Jagdeep Dhankar, Vice President of India, observed this while speaking as the chief guest at the XLRI’s platinum jubilee celebration held here in Jamshedpur on Sunday.
Dhankar said this commendation from the World Bank is a tribute to the present governance model that is highly accountable and transparent.

He said India’s efficient digital payment system is now being adopted by nations like Singapore. He pointed out that the nation’s UPI Transactions alone reached 1.5 trillion US Dollars surpassing the major economies of UK, US, Germany and France’s digital payments. Our transactions happen to be four times more than the transactions of these nations.
Mobile data consumption
The vice president said our per capita mobile data consumption is an important indicator, this reflects technological penetration. Its extensive use means that people in villages, semi-urban & urban areas have started using it and that is more than that of China & UK taken together for 2022.
“In 1990, to sustain our fiscal credibility we had to send in physical form of gold to Banks and now our foreign exchange reserve is around 600 billion, a great accomplishment. Today we are standing at the threshold of the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is indeed a transformative era, propelled by cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, etc.,” he said.

Earlier, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, who also graced the occasion addressed the audience at the function.
“Jagdeep Dhankar ji is a symbol of inspiration, known for his exemplary service in various positions. His inspirational personality and commitment to upholding democratic values serve as a guiding light for all of us, ” said Radhakrishnan.
He pointed out that the Xavier School of Management has not just been an educational institution; it’s a place where minds are shaped, character is built, and leaders are grown. He said this momentous occasion marks seventy-five years of excellence, dedication, and transformative education provided by this prestigious institution.
While applauding the Xavier School of Management, the governor said the successful alumni show how impactful the education here is, making significant contributions in various areas. Alumni of this institution are playing a pivotal role in the development of the nation, he added.
XLRI milestone
“As we celebrate this milestone, let’s not forget to acknowledge the visionaries, the dedicated faculty, the supportive staff, and, of course, the students who have been the driving force behind the success of this B-school. It is their collective efforts, commitment, and passion that have propelled this institution to the heights it enjoys today, ” Radhakrishnan said.
He stressed that the Platinum Jubilee is not just a time for reflection but also an opportunity to look forward.
“As Xavier School of Management explores new horizons in the coming years, let us commit together to uphold the values integral to its success, ” the Governor asserted.
XLRI Director S George addressed the occasion while welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries.
Chairman, XLRI and Global CEO, Tata Steel, TV Narendran, institute’s dean (Academy) Sanjay Patro, and dean (Administration) Donald D’Silva were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
