Jamshedpur, Dec 18: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dense fog alert at isolated places over north-western and northern-central parts of Jharkhand during the morning hours of December 19 and December 20.
No significant synoptic condition is currently prevailing over the state.
A real-time weather report issued by IMD’s Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, based on observations recorded at 8:30 am on December 18, indicates that daytime temperatures across the state remained near to slightly below normal, while night temperatures showed mixed trends.

Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 22.6°C, marginally below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 9.1°C, close to average. Jamshedpur registered a warmer day with a maximum of 25.7°C, though the minimum temperature rose to 12.8°C, about 1.5°C above normal.
Chaibasa reported the highest maximum temperature in the state at 27.0°C, whereas the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Ranchi AMFU at 6.0°C.
No rainfall was reported anywhere in the state during the past 24 hours.
Fog was observed at Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Deoghar, with the lowest visibility of 400 metres reported at Deoghar airport.
The IMD confirmed that no cold wave conditions were realised over Jharkhand.
Automated Weather Station data also showed a gradual fall in night temperatures at several locations, including Latehar, Lohardaga and Hazaribagh, indicating a slow intensification of winter conditions.
Residents, particularly in fog-prone regions, have been advised to exercise caution during early morning hours due to reduced visibility.
