IMD warns of heat wave, thunderstorms across Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, May 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a series of weather events likely to impact Jharkhand over the coming days, including heat wave conditions and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.

On May 14 and 15, isolated areas in the eastern parts of the state are likely to experience heat wave conditions.

Additionally, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail over Bokaro and Ramgarh districts on May 14.

On May 15, parts of eastern and adjoining central Jharkhand may witness thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph.

The weather is expected to intensify on May 16, with thunderstorms and lightning predicted to occur at isolated places, accompanied by stronger gusty winds of 40–50 kmph.

By May 17, these thunderstorm activities are likely to affect most parts of the state except the north-western region.

These weather developments are attributed to a trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, running through Chhattisgarh to south Odisha at about 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.

People have been advised to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid exposure to extreme weather conditions.
