Ranchi, Nov 15: India proudly reached the final of the World Cup. India won by 70 runs in the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 played with New Zealand on Wednesday. After winning the toss and batting first, India scored a huge score of 397 runs. For India, Virat Kohli scored 117 runs in 113 balls. Whereas Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant inning of 105 runs in 70 balls. Apart from that Gill scored 80 of 66 balls while KL Rahul finished things off with 39 from 20 balls

India had a great start to their innings scoring  84 in the first 10 overs with the loss of one wicket with skipper Rohi pioneering the innings with 47 of 29 balls. Gill played tremendously well in the middle overs keeping a check on the scoring rate whose foundation was laid by Rohit. Shreyas Iyer played an inspiring innings scoring a century of 67 balls and his aggressive knock also calmed Virat Kohli who went on to score a record-breaking 50th ODI century prior to Iyer’s ton.

The New Zealand team, which came to chase the target of 398 runs, also batted brilliantly. For New Zealand, Darrell Mitchell played an inning of 134 runs in 119 balls. Kane Williamson scored 69 runs and Glenn Phillip played an inning of 41 runs.

From India’s side Mohd. Shami was the standout bowler. Shami took 7 wickets while giving 57 runs. Shami’s figures of 7/57 is the best ever bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs as no bowler has ever taken seven wickets for India in ODIs. Shami was also the Man of the Match.
