New Delhi, May 26: Amid growing concerns of a fresh Covid-19 wave, India has recorded over 1,000 infections nationwide, with 752 new cases recently added to the tally. Kerala leads the surge, emerging as the worst-hit state with 430 active cases, according to official data.

Delhi has also seen a noticeable uptick, reporting 99 new infections over the past week, bringing its active case count to 104. Maharashtra follows with 209 active cases, while Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal have reported 83, 47, 15, and 12 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, several states and union territories—including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands—have not reported any active Covid-19 cases, offering a glimmer of relief amid the nationwide rise.

Experts believe this is not the time to be careless. With the changing weather and the upcoming festive season, people have been advised to remain cautious.

The Ministry of Health has urged citizens to wear masks in crowded places and get tested immediately if they develop symptoms. While the situation in the country is currently under control, the health department continues to maintain strict surveillance.
