Jamshedpur, Dec 9: The Steel City is gearing up to host one of its most ambitious innovation summits, the Jamshedpur Innovation Summit: Spaceship 2026, scheduled for January 18, 2026.
Organized by BA College of Engineering & Technology (BACET) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the summit aims to propel young minds into the world of AI-driven and hardcore technology solutions.
The day-long event will bring together school students (Class 8 and above), polytechnic students, undergraduates, postgraduates, entrepreneurs, faculty members, and industry experts under a single platform.
Participants will present working models and prototypes, which will be rigorously evaluated by distinguished experts from institutions such as NIT Jamshedpur and CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML).

The top five teams will not only be rewarded with recognition but will also receive seed funding, direct investor connect, mentorship, incubation support, and end-to-end guidance to transform their innovations into startups.
Speaking at a press conference held at Rajendra Vidyalaya, Sakchi, Dr S .K. Singh, Chairman of BACET, said that the summit aims to provide students a unique opportunity to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering graduates and entrepreneurs. He added that Jamshedpur has the potential to become a hub for groundbreaking ideas, and events like this will help these ideas “find wings.”
Five globally successful entrepreneurs from Jamshedpur roots will inspire participants: Abhishek Kumar, CIO & Co-Founder, AssessHope & TrueAtom (USA), Ranjan Kumar, Tech Lead, Meta (USA), Vatsala Upadhyay, Founder & CEO, Al Junoon (USA), Subhra Kandanala, Founder, Silver Businesses Services (USA) and Abhijeet Kumar, Co-Founder, ClientTell & GoKettles (Bengaluru)
Five UPSC-qualified officers with startup experience will guide students on policy, funding, and government schemes: Prabhat Kumar (IPS), SSP Dhanbad, Govt. of Jharkhand, Anya Das (IAS), Deputy Secretary, Health Dept., Govt. of Odisha, Kumar Shivashish (IPS), City SP Jamshedpur, Sumit Kumar Thakur (IAS), Sub-Collector & SDM Thiruvalla, Govt. of Kerala and Kanishk (IAS), Asst. Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Govt. of Karnataka.

The summit also highlights the larger economic context surrounding AI innovation. Dr Singh noted that globally, generative AI is projected to contribute 1.5% to global GDP by 2035. In India, Accenture estimates that AI could potentially boost the economy by USD 500–600 billion by 2035, underscoring the need for Jharkhand and Jamshedpur to lead India’s AI revolution.
Participation categories include idea pitching (₹500 per team for teams of 1–4 members) and audience/observer entry (₹100 per person). The last date for registration is December 20, 2025.
The press conference was attended by academic and school leaders including Ishita Dey (Principal, Tarapore School Agrico), Anita Tiwari (Principal, Rajendra Vidyalaya Sakchi), Khushboo Thakur (Principal, Rajendra Vidyalaya Ghutia), and Mikki Singh, principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya.
