Jamshedpur, Nov 27: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto today raised several questions about irrigation facilities for farmers of Patamda, Bodam and Katin blocks of East Singhbhum district in the Lok Sabha today.

According to Mahto, the water resources department of Jharkhand state had approved the Patamda Pump Canal Scheme to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers. However, till now no concrete action has been taken on this scheme.

He pointed out that in the last one year, the survey report has also been submitted by the consultant, but the water resources department has not yet approved this scheme.

Due to this delay, about 12,500 hectares of agricultural land is not getting the benefit of irrigation facilities, which is seriously affecting the agricultural production capacity of the farmers.

The MP demanded that immediate action be taken on this delay caused by the officials of the water resources department.

He also requested the minister on this issue that a decision should be taken soon for the approval of the irrigation scheme so that the farmers can get the necessary facilities on time.
