Ranchi, June 9: Retired IAS officer Jatashankar Choudhary and Kumar Gaurav were unanimously elected as president and secretary, respectively, of the Jharkhand Paralympic Association for the 2025–2029 term.

The elections were held during the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) at the MLA Club of the old Assembly building. The process was conducted under the supervision of retired Principal District Judge Sunil Kumar Singh, who also served as the returning officer.

All seven office bearers and seven executive members were elected unopposed. Sandeep Kumar, representing the Indian Paralympic Committee, served as the election observer.

After his election, President Jatashankar Choudhary expressed his commitment to helping Jharkhand’s athletes excel at both national and international levels.

Outgoing president Shashi Ranjan Singh welcomed guests at the AGM and honoured players who have performed well in national, Khelo India, and international tournaments with the “Pride of Para Sports” award.

Retired Chief Additional Secretary N.N. Pandey was the chief guest at the meeting. Other dignitaries present included former president Shashi Ranjan Singh, retired IAS officer Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh, Raja Govindnath Shahdeo, Dr. Shivaji Kumar (Vice President, Paralympic Committee of India), Vijay Kumar Dutta, Dr. Sanjay Singh, and Abhay Shankar Singh. The event was conducted by Navin Kumar.
