Ranchi, June 21: The Jharkhand Biodiversity Board (JBB) observed the 11th International Yoga Day by organizing a special yoga session at Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Ranchi, alongside events across various districts, including Saranda (West Singhbhum), Jamtara, Palamu, and Chatra.

The initiative aimed to promote both biodiversity conservation and human well-being through nature-based practices like yoga and naturopathy.

Community Participation Across the State

Members of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) and college interns selected by the Board actively participated in the yoga programs. The sessions were designed to highlight the connection between personal health and environmental stewardship.

At the Ranchi event, more than 50 participants learned yoga and naturopathy techniques from national medalist instructor Roopam Singh. The session witnessed active involvement from village heads (mukhiya), deputy heads, committee members, and interns, all of whom engaged in guided yoga practice and discussions on the benefits of holistic wellness.

Message from the Board

Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Member Secretary of the JBB, stressed the importance of maintaining personal health as a foundation for conserving biodiversity. “Yoga strengthens the bond between humans and nature. It is essential for individuals to be physically and mentally fit to contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation,” he said.

Certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees, including instructors Aditya Singh and Roopam Singh, by Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar.

Technical officers from the Board—Hari Shankar Lal, Manish Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, Moni Kumari, Amarnath, and Pallavi Bharti—also took part in the event, reinforcing the Board’s commitment to holistic health and ecological balance.
