Speaking to the media, BJP state president Babulal Marandi said, “India is governed by a democratic system under Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution. Sharia is a personal matter and cannot dictate governance.” He slammed the Congress, JMM, and RJD for their silence and alleged that some government ministers are placing Sharia above the Constitution.

Marandi further stated, “It is Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s responsibility to ensure that Jharkhand is run as per the Constitution. If someone prefers Sharia over constitutional law, they should be removed from the cabinet.”

Working President Dr Ravindra Kumar Rai said that BJP has opposed two laws in one country since its inception. “Jharkhand is BJP’s holy land and the party cannot tolerate those who conspire to run it under Sharia,” he said.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi accused the state government of indulging in appeasement politics. “Ministers who have taken an oath of the Constitution are openly violating it for vote bank politics,” she said.

Union Minister Sanjay Seth added that those attempting to align governance with Sharia law have no place in democracy and should seek alternatives.

State organization secretary Karmveer Singh emphasized that while the BJP believes in “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” it does not support appeasement politics. He also appreciated the commitment of party workers who joined the protest from across the state despite the scorching heat.
