Ranchi, Jan 6: Senior BJP leader and former Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Amar Bauri, announced today that the party will launch the Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan campaign from January 11 to January 25, 2025. Bauri, who serves as the campaign’s state convener, stated that State Minister Nand Ji Prasad and senior leader Rakesh Bhaskar have been appointed as co-conveners for the initiative.

At a press conference, Bauri explained that the Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan aims to raise public awareness about the contributions of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution and the challenges he faced, including alleged betrayal by the Congress Party.

Dr. Ambedkar’s leadership

Bauri highlighted that the Constitution, crafted under Dr. Ambedkar’s leadership, has enabled India to flourish as a democracy, noting that it is because of the Constitution that a tribal woman today holds the highest office in the country and a tea seller serves as the Prime Minister. He emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s vision has yet to fully reach all segments of society. The BJP intends to use this campaign to bring Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and goals to the grassroots level.

Bauri also criticized Congress for prioritizing religion-based reservations during the Constitution’s drafting process, in contrast to Dr. Ambedkar’s principle of granting equal rights to all citizens. He accused Congress of sidelining Dr. Ambedkar, pointing out that while Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi received the Bharat Ratna during their lifetimes, Dr. Ambedkar was denied such recognition until much later. Furthermore, he claimed that even after his death, Dr. Ambedkar was not granted two yards of land in New Delhi.

Dr. Ambedkar opposed Article 370

Bauri noted that Dr. Ambedkar opposed Article 370 in Kashmir and mentioned several significant events from the time of Constitution-making that, according to him, the general public needs to understand. As part of the campaign, the BJP will organize programs at the Mandal (local) level across the country to educate people about Dr. Ambedkar’s articles, goals, and policy principles.

Bauri asserted that there is a clear distinction between genuinely respecting Dr. Ambedkar and merely pretending to do so. He highlighted that it was during the BJP’s tenure that Dr. Ambedkar was posthumously honoured with the Bharat Ratna.

Maiyaan scheme

Regarding the Maiyaan scheme, Bauri criticized Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, claiming that while the scheme benefits over 56 lakh people, the public is paying a heavy price for it. He alleged that funds meant for the state’s elderly, widows, and disabled are not reaching their accounts. He also criticized the state government for allocating only Rs 2,100 to one department in the supplementary budget, calling for the Chief Minister to apologize for neglecting essential welfare programs.

Subsidized gas cylinders

On the issue of subsidized gas cylinders, Bauri accused the Congress and JMM of breaking their promises. He recalled that during the fifth assembly, a minister had dismissed the election manifesto as merely a “declaration.” He criticized the failure of Congress and JMM to fulfil their pledge to provide gas cylinders for Rs 450, as mentioned in their manifesto.

State media in-charge Shiv Pujan Pathak, state spokesperson Amit Kumar Mandal, and Rafia Naz also attended the press conference.
