Jharkhand Chess Academy felicitates Commonwealth Gold Medalist Adhiraj Mitra

 

Ranchi, Dec 8: Jharkhand Chess Academy felicitated Master Adhiraj Mitra, Gold Medalist at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025 held in Malaysia, during the One Day Rapid Chess Championship organised at the academy premises in Ranchi.

To honour his outstanding achievement and for bringing pride to Jharkhand, the academy presented him with ₹1,00,000 and a special memento. The event was attended by Dushyant and Abhishek Das, Founder of Jharkhand Chess Academy.

The One Day Rapid Chess Championship in Ranchi also showcased impressive performances from young players. Aarav Sharan secured the U-15 title, Aarav Bharthi emerged as the U-13 Champion, and Vani Kumari won the Junior category.

During the programme, the academy announced a significant financial incentive scheme to encourage promising chess talents from Jharkhand. Under this initiative, players representing India in official world-level events will be awarded ₹1,00,000 for a gold medal, ₹75,000 for a silver, and ₹50,000 for a bronze.

The academy stated that this step is aimed at motivating young chess players to excel at the global stage and continue bringing honour to Jharkhand. Jharkhand Chess Academy reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing and promoting chess talent across the state.
