Jamshedpur, August 28: As scheduled earlier, Chief Minister Hemant Soren arrived at Gamharia in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Wednesday afternoon to launch the popular women’s welfare scheme, Maiya Sanmaan Yojana.
The program of the Maiya Sanmaan Yojana is being organised at Rapcha Football Maidaan in the Gamharia block about 15 km away from the heart of the Steel City amid tight security as it is a stronghold area of the CM’s arch-rival Champai Soren.
Those who accompanied the CM include his wife Kalpana Soren, health ministers Banna Gupta, Deepak Birua, Satyanand Bhokta, Bebi Devi, Member of Parliament Joba Majhi, legislators Ramdas Soren, Dasrath Gagrai, Sukhram Oraon, Sanjiv Sardar and Niral Purti.

Hemant Soren came in a chopper that landed at a helipad set up near the venue. Soon after, the Seraikela-Kharsawan administration gave a guard of honour to the CM and subsequently welcomed him to the dais.

CM to imburse first instalment of scheme
At the venue large number of beneficiaries, women in the age groups between 21 years to 50 years gathered there to avail the benefits of the Maiya Sanmaan Yojana under which each of them is supposed to get Rs 1,000 per month.
The chief minister has been at Gamharia today because he will imburse the first instalment of the scheme to the beneficiaries hailing from Seraikela-Kharsawan and the rest of the Kolhan region.
The crowd at the Rapcha Football Maidaan during the CM’s program was not impressive as the supporters of the former chief minister and Seraikela legislator Champai Soren were conspicuously absent.
About 46 lakh applicants have been registered under the Maiya Sanmaan Yojana from across the state, obviously keeping the ensuing assembly elections in the state.
