Ranchi, Jan 22: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal to create 7232 posts of Assistant teachers for Urdu in primary schools of the state.

These include 5478 posts for primary schools (classes 1 to 5) and 1754 posts for upper primary schools (classes 6 to 8). Notably, 4401 posts are sanctioned for assistant teachers of Urdu in primary schools of the entire state. Of these, 689 posts of Urdu teachers were appointed, while 3712 posts are vacant.

In such a situation, by transferring the sanctioned posts of assistant teachers of Urdu in primary schools of the state, the post of assistant teacher has been created against the said posts and the pay scale has been changed.

The issue

Based on a report of the Jharkhand Education Project Council, Ranchi, a total of 7981 assistant teacher positions have been created for Urdu students enrolled in primary and upper primary schools across all districts of the state. This includes 6167 positions in primary schools and 1754 positions in middle schools.

However, there are currently 689 trained Urdu assistant teachers working in primary schools. Therefore, a total of 7232 assistant teacher positions (5478 in primary schools and 1754 in middle schools) have been created in the state’s primary and middle schools.

Creation of 50,000 Assistant Teacher positions

While modifying the positions of assistant teachers in primary and middle schools across the state, 50,000 positions for assistant teachers have been approved.

The salary for assistant teachers is determined at Level-4 for Intermediate trained and Level-5 for Graduate trained, following the seventh central revised pay scale.

In this context, the vacant positions for Urdu teachers have also been adjusted accordingly.
