Ranchi, Dec 25: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday paid floral tributes to Amar Veer Shaheed Nirmal Mahato on his birth anniversary at Jail More in Ranchi.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by MLA Kalpana Soren, offered garlands at Mahato’s statue and paid homage to the senior leader of the Jharkhand movement.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Soren said the day holds special significance as it marks the 75th birth anniversary of Nirmal Mahato, who dedicated his life to the struggle for the rights of tribal and indigenous communities.

He said that, as in previous years, people across the state are remembering the contributions of the martyr with deep respect.
The Chief Minister said Jharkhand has completed 25 years as a separate state and leaders like Nirmal Mahato remain a source of pride for the people.
He described Mahato’s role in the Jharkhand statehood movement as invaluable and said the state continues to move forward by embracing his ideals and vision.

Recalling that Nirmal Mahato was young at the time of his martyrdom, Soren said today’s youth regard him as a guide and a source of inspiration.
He added that the youth of Jharkhand take pride in his legacy and that the people of the state will continue to carry forward his thoughts and ideals in the years to come.
