Daltonganj, March 11: A heart-rending crime was unfolded by the Chainpur police in Palamu with clinical precision.
A father under the influence of liquor axed his 16-year-old daughter to death on the mere suspicion of his daughter having illicit relations.
The brother of the deceased girl joined the father in disposing of the body secretly.

Four co-villagers
Four other co-villagers joined these two in the destruction of the evidence.
Police nabbed six villagers, including the father, Mathura Singh, 52, the brother of the decrease, Jitender Singh, 19, and four co-villagers aged 19 to 60.
Police recover axe
All six were remanded in judicial custody today. Police have recovered the axe used to kill her besides blood-soaked socks and blouse.

SP holds press briefing
SP Reeshma Ramesan held a press briefing wherein she said, “The father had axed his 16-year-old daughter to death. The axe, locally called Tangi, was banged on her head.”
Her body was hidden in a trench cum bund. A heap of soil was put there. The incident was on March 4.
Chainpur police got a whiff of it through its Chowkidar and villagers that a body was in trench cum bund on March 8.
As the body was not buried in the true sense, but it was beneath the earth in trench cum bund, so Chainpur police went for exhuming the body by getting a magistrate on the spot during the exhumation.
The body was exhumed in the presence of the CO Chainpur, who acted as magistrate.
The body was sent to the MMCH Daltonganj for post-mortem. Axe or Tangi’s blunt blow had caused her death. There were deep blunt injuries on her head, said the MMCH Daltonganj sources.
The father and the brother did everything to hide their crime and themselves.
Chainpur police station
They left their home at Salutwa village under the Chainpur police station and took shelter in their relative’s house at Satbarwa police station limits.
Reeshma Ramesan said police nabbed father and brother from Satbarwa.
The four co-villagers who helped the father and brother in concealing the body of the girl and also in destroying evidence hail from the same Salatuwa village from where the father and brother came.
