Ranchi, April 7: In a moment of pride for the state, the Jharkhand State Eye Society has once again claimed the Best Eye Society Award in India for the year 2024–2025. Recognized by the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), this prestigious award highlights Jharkhand’s leadership in eye care awareness, scientific research, and medical education.

Recognized on a Global Stage

The honour was presented during the 40th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress, held in conjunction with the 83rd Annual AIOS Conference at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center, New Delhi on April 3. Receiving the award on behalf of the society were Dr. Bharti Kashyap, Dr. B. P. Kashyap, Dr. Sujoy Samanta, Dr. Nilendu Mishra, Dr. S. K. Mitra, and Treasurer Vibhuti Bhushan.

Triple Triumph

The society also bagged the title of Best State Society in the 100–500 member group for the third consecutive year, proving its consistent performance in promoting ophthalmic education and eye health awareness across Jharkhand.

Reaching the Unreached

Under the leadership of Dr. Bharti Kashyap, the society carried out 142 awareness campaigns across underserved areas such as Santhal Pargana, Palamu, North and South Chotanagpur, and Kolhan divisions. Special campaigns like “Mega Vision for Jharkhand” targeted Naxal-hit areas and the most backward districts like Pakur and Sahibganj.

Training Tomorrow’s Eye Specialists

To empower the next generation of ophthalmologists, the society organized 94 scientific seminars and 54 wet lab training sessions at institutions, including Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, RIMS Ranchi, Bokaro General Hospital, CCL Ranchi, and MGM Medical College Jamshedpur.

A Proud Moment for Jharkhand

“This Award Brings National Recognition to Our State,” says Dr. Bharti Kashyap

Expressing her joy, Dr. Bharti Kashyap—also a recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar—said,

“This award is not just a win for our society, but a proud moment for Jharkhand. It reflects our commitment to quality eye care and public awareness.”
