Jamshedpur, April 7: A seminar on Organ Donation Awareness was successfully organized today at TMA Pai Hall Auditorium of Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur, in collaboration with the Department of Outreach.

The guests, speaker and attendees to the seminar were welcomed by Dr. G Pradeep Kumar (Dean, MTMC). The event was spearheaded by renowned legal expert and organ donation advocate, Advocate Prashant Ajmera, who addressed students, faculty, and healthcare professionals on the legal, ethical, and procedural aspects of organ donation and transplantation in India.
The seminar aimed to demystify the process of organ donation and encourage the medical community and public to actively participate in saving lives through organ donation. Advocate Ajmera and Hemali Ajmera shared key insights from their extensive experience, emphasizing the critical need to increase awareness and dispel myths surrounding organ donation.

Dipankar Choudhary (IAS) gave insights from his life as an administrator about the lack of awareness amongst society as well as health professionals about organ donation and transplantation.

Dr Nirmal Kumar (former HoD, General Medicine MGMMCH) emphasized the need for generating awareness about organ donation and conducting more such sessions which will be helpful for society as well as healthcare professionals. He also put focus on the need to upgrade the knowledge and aware the society based on the evolution of the healthcare needs of society.
The interactive session was well received, with questions from attendees reflecting a strong interest in contributing to the cause. Attendees were also encouraged to pledge as organ donors and help spread the message within their communities.
The Department of Outreach, in collaboration with stakeholders like Advocate Ajmera, continues to champion such initiatives that align with national and global health priorities.

The program was attended by Dr G Pradeep Kumar (Dean, MTMC), Dr Rajiva Dwivedi (Director, MTMC), Dipankar Choudhary (IAS), Dr. Nirmal Kumar (Former HoD, Medicine, MGMMCH), Dr. Maheswar Prasad (Head, Outreach) and many faculties as well as more than 200 students from MTMC.
