Ranchi, Feb 28: President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a one-day visit to Jharkhand, was the chief guest at the third convocation of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) today.
Addressing the convocation function, the President spoke on the development of the young country and the development of women.
She praised the art and culture of Jharkhand.
In her address, the President said, “I am happy to come to the land of Baba Baidyanath Dham. I congratulate the students who have received their degrees today. The lifeline Subernarekha River flows near-by the campus of CUJ. It is true that today students are entering a challenging life. Use the knowledge found here.”
The President went on to say, ” We are going to become the third largest economy by 2030. We have a vision of making India a developed country by 2040. Everyone will envision a society where harmony is the slogan of the country- Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.”

The President said, while giving awards, “I realize how our daughters are progressing.”
“Even today, the award recipients are mostly girls who are progressing at a fast pace. It is our job to encourage the daughters, ” she asserted.
Further in her speech, the President praised CUJ’s green campus.
“The Central University of Jharkhand is doing good work. A special centre has been created here to promote local language, music and cultural heritage, ” she said adding that the campus has been done keeping in mind the green architect.
“No trees have been cut. Special care has been taken of the environment. We all understand the seriousness of climate change and global warming, ” she said.
The President further said ” Whenever I come to Jharkhand, I feel as if I have returned to my home. The privilege of being on the land of Birsa fills me with happiness.”
Chief Minister Champai Soren welcomed the President with a bouquet.
Earlier, the President reached Birsa Munda Airport at 10.30 am by a special aircraft where she was received by Chief Minister Champai Soren and Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
She was accorded a guard of honour at the airport.
While attending the third convocation of the Central University of Jharkhand she also gave away various medals to the toppers and research scholars.
