Ranchi, June 28: Former CM Hemant Soren, accused in the 8.86-acre land scam case of Bariatu’s Bargai, has got relief from the Jharkhand High Court. The court of Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay of the High Court accepted Hemant Soren’s bail plea and granted him bail.
Earlier, after the hearing of both the parties, the court had reserved the decision in the case on June 13.
ED lawyer SV Raju had said during the hearing that Hemant Soren had unauthorizedly occupied 8.86 acres of land in Bargai Anchal, which is money laundering under the provisions contained in PMLA 2002.

Notably, Hemant was arrested on the night of 31 January in the land scam case. ED has completed the investigation in the case and has filed a charge sheet against five people including Hemant Soren on March 30.
Apart from this, a supplementary charge sheet has also been filed in the court against 10 accused including JMM leader Antu Tirkey.
In the same case, Afsar Ali, JMM leader Antu Tirkey, Priyaranjan Sahay, Vipin Singh and Irshad along with 22 other people have also been arrested.
