The RIMS delegation, led by Dr. Vikash Kumar, initially met the minister to invite him to the Saraswati Puja festival scheduled for February 3. However, they also informed him about the assault on their fellow students.
The delegation included Junior Doctors Association (JDA) President Dr. Ankit Kumar, Vice-President Dr. Abhishek, Secretary Dr. Om Kumar, IMA Medical Students Network (MSN) President Dr. Aman Kumar, and several students from different batches, including Dr. Praful Raj, Dr. Ayush Agrawal, Amit Kumar, Pratik Kumar, Sharad Kumar, Vaishnavi, Divya, and Avinash Kumar.
Minister Intervenes in Saraswati Puja Ban
Following the attack, RIMS management imposed a ban on celebrating Saraswati Puja on campus, citing security concerns. The decision was met with strong opposition from JDA, JDN, MSN, and MBBS students. On January 25, student representatives approached the health minister, urging him to intervene.
Taking serious note of the issue, Dr. Ansari directed the RIMS administration to revoke the ban, allowing the festival to proceed as planned. The students and medical associations expressed their gratitude to the minister for ensuring that the celebrations could take place.
