Daltonganj, Jan 23: The gateway to the Palamu Tiger Reserve, the Kutku range, is to get a facelift. This range remained in the shadow of other 7 ranges since 1974 despite its having pristine forest, a near permanent abode of the herd of elephants, Himalayan black bears and big of all its being a passage to tigers.
The March tiger to PTR had a stay in the Kutku range. So there was the stopover of two more tigers in November month too.
Connectivity of Kutku range
Tiger or tigers are to pass through the Kutku range as this range is in the line of Chhattisgarh and MP.
PK Jena, deputy director, north division of the Palamu Tiger Reserve said, “We are all out to activate this Kutku range. We will be strengthening out workforce.”
Jena said, “This Kutku range has a perennial issue of connectivity. It looks like a land beyond land. One is to reach here via Garhwa. It’s too long, too time taking and probably because of the absence of the connectivity this Kutku range remained a disconnected one of the PTR.”

“Now, it’s time that Kutku range regains its legitimate hold on to the PTR. Quarters have come up. We will be setting up a research center here” reminded Jena.
Post-liberation from Maoists, Kutku Range aims for rapid development amidst power deficit
When asked that electricity is a big miss here to which the deputy director of north division said “Very true. There is no electricity here. We will go for solarizing here.”
As now the infamous Burha Pahar, once the all-weather capital of the CPI Maoists, is calm and quiet following its liberation by the security forces in 2022, the Kutku range which comes under the limits of the Burha Pahar, is to pace fast now.
If the dominance of the Maoists here put a brake on the development of the Kutku range, it at the same time helped save its forest from rampant felling of trees as well.
There goes on illegal felling of trees here too in the Kutku range, news of which hardly comes out like Garu where if a tree is illegally felled, it shakes the world.
