Dhanbad, Jan 9: Today, a fine of Rs7.30 lakh was imposed on passengers in a large-scale ticket-checking campaign conducted under different sections of the Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) Zone.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager ( Sr DCM) cum in-charge of public relation officer Amresh Kumar said that comprehensive ticket-checking campaigns in different trains were conducted at Dhanbad, Gomoh, Koderma, Daltonganj, Chopan, Barkakana, Singarouli stations of the division.

During the campaign, 1895 passengers were caught without tickets, without booking luggage, and without unauthorised travelling. A total fine of Rs 7,30395 was collected from them, and they were warned not to travel without a ticket in the future.

During the 24-hour campaign, 158 officers and staff were deployed to carry out checks. “The ticket checking campaign was launched on the directive of the Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) Dhanbad and will continue in the future too,” said Sr DCM Amresh Kumar.

The Sr DCM said the primary mission of this campaign is to encourage passengers to travel with tickets and increase the sale of tickets at the counter.

Earlier Monday, the divisional team collected a Rs 10.93 lakh fine from 2790 passengers at the Dhanbad-Gomoh and CIC section.
