Jharkhand News: 392 students take admission to state seats in five medical colleges

Dhanbad, September 6: In the first round of counselling, 392 students out of the 415 state quota seats were admitted to five Jharkhand government medical colleges. The counselling process concluded on the evening of September 5.

All five medical colleges—MGMMCH Jamshedpur, SNMMCH Dhanbad, SBMCH Hazaribagh, PJMCH Dumka, and MMCH Palamu—are approved for 100 MBBS seats each. Of these, 83 seats are reserved for the state quota. Additionally, each college has 15 seats reserved for the central quota and two seats designated for central government nominees.

Following the first round of counselling, which concluded on September 5, 392 students were admitted under the state quota. There are 23 state quota seats remaining to be filled in the second round of counselling.

College-specific admissions

SBMCH Hazaribagh and PJMCH Dumka: SBMCH Hazaribagh saw the highest number of admissions with 80 out of 83 state quota seats filled, followed by PJMCH Dumka with 79 out of 83.

SBMCH Principal Dr. SK Singh who is also the director medical education wing of the state said that three state quota seats remain vacant and three students of central quota also took admission while no central government nominees have arrived.

At PJMCH, Principal Dr. Arun Kumar Choudhary reported that four state quota seats and 12 central quota seats are available for the second counselling and three students of central quota also took admission.

“Now four seats of state quota and 12 seats central quota will be enrolled in next counselling”, he said.

MGMMCH Jamshedpur and SNMMCH Dhanbad: Both MGMMCH Jamshedpur and SNMMCH Dhanbad admitted 78 students each under the state quota. MGMMCH Principal Dr. Ravindra Kumar stated that no central quota nominees attended the counselling.

At SNMMCH, Admission In-Charge Dr. Ganesh Kumar mentioned that five out of 15 central quota seats were filled, with five state quota seats remaining for the next round of counselling.

“Five students out of 15 of central quota also took admission in first counselling which concluded on August 31st,” said Dr Kumar

MMCH Palamu: MMCH Palamu admitted 77 students under the state quota, with three central quota students also enrolled.

Admission In-Charge Dr. Atul Prakash confirmed that one central government nominee from Nagaland was admitted.

Upcoming counselling and seat availability

The second round of counselling will address the remaining seats. Institutions will continue to fill vacant spots from both state and central quotas as well as central government nominations.
