Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Ahead of the Ghatshila assembly by-elections, the East Singhbhum district administration, in co-ordination with the excise department, conducted a major crackdown on illegal liquor operations on Thursday.

The campaign aims to ensure law and order and fair voting during the electoral process.

During the operation, the excise department team raided Galudih and Kashpani areas, dismantling five illegal distilleries.

Excise authorities also seized and destroyed around 1150 kilograms of ‘Java Mahua’, a key ingredient used in the production of illicit liquor.

The campaign was led by the excise superintendent of East Singhbhum, with support from local police and administrative officials.

Officials stated that the action is part of a special drive ordered by the Election Commission to curb the production and distribution of illegal alcohol in the constituency.

Authorities further emphasized that such operations will be intensified in the coming days to prevent any activities that could influence voters or disrupt the election process.
