Daltonganj, August 16: Independence Day celebrations find a parade of the best of the dresses which are typically ceremonial and are worn not to any ordinary day but on special day like this Independence Day or Republic Day.

Those who hoist Tiranga come out in their best dresses. They try to look smarter on the Day concealing the growing effects of age on the face.

Here are some specimens of the best dressed people who hoisted the National Flag in Daltonganj.

The principal district and sessions judge Niraj Kumar Srivastav came out in his wrinkle free cream colour high neck buttoned suit. There is a strict protocol when a PDJ hoists Tiranga. Everything has to be in order.

Divisional Commissioner Bal Kishun Munda preferred his black suit for this occasion.

Palamu DC wears eye-catching Pagree

It was DC Shashi Ranjan who sprang a big surprise. He wore a gorgeous Pagree.

He was an instant hit with the crowd there in the police line ground. Many stared at him twice to be sure that the Pagree man was the DC and none else. Girls and women admired his sense of dress.

Never for a moment Shashi Ranjan looked to be in any embarrassment as he became an instant cynosure of all in the police line ground where public ceremony of Independence Day and Republic Day is held.

The art and beauty of Pagree lies in its folding on head like how it is fastened. There are numerous instances when Pagrees have caused serious embarrassments to its wearers when it either opened up or slid down to ears.

This correspondent asked Shashi Ranjan as to who the man was to have fixed his Pagree, pat came the reply “Ek staff hi bandha hai.”

However, DC didn’t share as to how this idea of Pagree came to him. He just said “I wore it.”

Sources said Shashi Ranjan became the first DC here in Palamu to wear Pagree as others had remained contented with white cap.

Palamu had seen around four or five women DCs here. One of them used to have her Aanchal (edge of the Saree) on her head to cover it.

Shashi Ranjan’s Pagree stood out sharp between the white cap of the Divisional Commissioner and the cap of the SP Reeshma Ramesan.

If one talks about the worst dressed persons on this occasion, the journalists’ robes can’t be forgotten. This tribe always wears the look of news poacher only. The more a journalist looks weird the more he is seen as a sincere one.
