Jamshedpur, March 11: Adityapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday slapped Rs 6.5 lakhs as a penalty against Siddhivinayak Home Makers for promoting apartment buildings without making arrangements for a drainage system.

The Siddhivinayak Home Makers has set up a sprawling residential building under the name of Sunrise Enclave at Dhrajganj near Satbohni and DVC Mode along the Adityapur-Kandra four-lane in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

As there was waterlogging on the way to the Sunrise Enclave, causing immense difficulty in communication through the stretch, the flat owners had recently lodged a complaint with the AMC authority, demanding redressal from the threatening problem.

Inspection Reveals True Extent of Waterlogging Issue

Following a complaint lodged by the aggrieved residents of Sunrise Enclave, the AMC’s Additional Municipal Commissioner, Parul Singh, on Tuesday inspected the troubled site. On finding the complaint to be true, she slapped a penalty of Rs 6.5 lakhs on the builder.

The supportive staff who had accompanied the Additional Municipal Commissioner realised the penalty amount immediately on the spot.

Regarding the solution of the waterlogging problem, Parul Singh queried the builder’s men to show whether the company had got a drainage system plan approved from the authority concerned.

Action Plan for Resolving Waterlogging

The Additional Municipal Commissioner is learned to have ordered the builder’s men to clear the waterlogging within two days time and to find out a permanent solution to the problem; otherwise they are to be ready to face the music.

Though the Additional Municipal Commissioner could not be contacted for her comment, the AMC functionaries hinted that the civic body will take stern action against the builder if the waterlogging issue is not resolved soon.

As a matter of fact, waste waters from the Sunrise Enclave used to pass through the land of another builder adjoining the Sunrise Enclave. But after the neighbouring builder started constructing his apartments, he blocked the drainage passage of the Sunrise Enclave, resulting in waterlogging.

Significantly, The Jharkhand Story had highlighted the matter on Monday, leading the AMC’s additional municipal commissioner to swing into action on the issue today.
