Ranchi, Feb 20: Former minister and Congress leader Bandhu Tirkey has been acquitted by the Ranchi MP-MLA Court in a six-year-old case related to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The special MP-MLA court ruled in his favour on Thursday, citing a lack of evidence.
On Monday, Tirkey’s statement was recorded under Section 313, following which the court reserved its judgment and scheduled the verdict for Thursday.
The case dates back to the Silli Assembly by-election when Bandhu Tirkey, while addressing a rally in the Angara police station area, allegedly referred to the then Chief Minister as “Chhattisgarhi.”
