BIT Mesra to host international conference on Emerging Trends in Translational Bioinformatics

Ranchi, Dec 3: The Department of Bioengineering and Biotechnology at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, is all set to organize a prestigious 3-day International Conference on Emerging Trends in Translational Bioinformatics (ET²B-2024). The conference, scheduled from December 5 to 7, 2024, will focus on advancements and innovations at the intersection of bioinformatics, disease biology, and computational tools.

The conference will feature distinguished speakers, researchers, and academicians from across the globe, with over 200 participants expected, including scholars from countries like France, Germany, and Singapore.

Prof. L.S. Shashidhara, FNASc, FNA, JC Bose National Fellow, and Director of NCBS Bengaluru, will grace the event as the Chief Guest, alongside Prof. D. Sundar, FNASc, and Biocon Chair at IBAB Bengaluru, as the Guest of Honor.

The event is organized under the patronage of Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor of BIT Mesra, and chaired by Prof. Kunal Mukhopadhyay, Head of the Department of Bioengineering and Biotechnology.

Speaking about the conference, Prof. Mukhopadhyay said, “This international event is a pioneering initiative in Jharkhand, showcasing bioinformatics, AI, and machine learning techniques that have the potential to transform disease research and innovation globally.”

Key Themes of ET²B-2024

Day 1 (December 5): Innovations in AI-ML & Big Data Applications in Disease Biology.

Day 2 (December 6): Molecular Modeling and Structural Bioinformatics Applications.

Day 3 (December 7): Systems Biology and Mathematical Biology in Disease Understanding.

The conference, supported by leading funding agencies such as SERB, DBT, CSIR, NASI, and Esconet, aims to encourage meaningful dialogues and foster collaboration among researchers. Dr. Alok Jain, the Convenor of the conference, emphasized the importance of panel discussions and keynote addresses in addressing future challenges in translational bioinformatics.

The Organizing Secretaries for the event, Prof. Raju Poddar and Dr. Koel Mukherjee, expressed their enthusiasm about the significant impact the conference is expected to make on young researchers and the scientific community.
