Dhanbad, Nov 19: BIT Sindri’s Platinum Jubilee celebration, held from November 15 to 17, brought together a distinguished group of alumni, many of whom now head prominent institutions both in India and abroad. These alumni expressed their admiration for the institution’s growth over the last 75 years and committed to helping it become one of the top technical institutions in the country.

The three-day event saw the participation of prominent alumni including Amrendu Prakash, Chairman of SAIL; Shashan Shekhar Garuyar, Chairman of Cyber Vidyapeeth; Rajkumar Choudhary, Chairman of NHPC; Prof DK Singh, Vice Chancellor of JUT Ranchi; Prof BS Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu; Divyanshu Raj, Amit Rai, Sweta Kumari, DIG Registration Jharkhand; Dr Meena Sinha, MD; and Rajat Sinha.
Notable alumni share personal experiences
Amrendu Prakash, Chairman of SAIL, highlighted the significance of giving back to the institution: “We all are students of BIT Sindri and we do not think what the institution would give us, albeit we should discuss what we can do for BIT Sindri. Students of BIT Sindri are capable of doing great work,” he said.

Prof BS Sahay, Chairman of IIM Jammu, shared a personal reflection: “BIT Sindri played a major role in my life. I am able to stand here and address before you due to BIT Sindri. I would not have been present here had not BIT Sindri existed. It is our responsibility to carry forward its heritage,” he remarked.
NHPC Chairman Rajkumar Choudhary emphasized the evolving role of infrastructure in education saying “In the last 15-20 years, the definition of infrastructure has changed. For quality education and quality students, infrastructure must be world-class.”
BIT Sindri’s ongoing development and alumni support
BIT Sindri’s Director, Dr. Pankaj Rai, praised the continued cooperation of the alumni, noting that the institution has made significant progress, particularly with the support of the state government. Recently, the institution added a new Cyber Security faculty.
Prof Prakash Kumar, the coordinator, also acknowledged the valuable contributions of alumni, including the renovation of the canteen by the 1994 batch and the donation of 75 laptops by another batch. Prof Ghanshyam, Chairman of the BIT Sindri CDC, proposed the vote of thanks at the event.
Dr. Meena Sinha (MD) and Rajat Sinha (1958-1962 batch) made a notable contribution by providing an advanced lab to the Chemical Engineering department in the name of their daughter, Dr. Shinni Sinha.
