Dhanbad, Dec 13: BIT Sindri team ECOV80RS emerged as runners-up in the 7th edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 Grand Finale. The event was held at the Amity University Chhattisgarh Raipur Nodal Centre from December 10 to 11.
Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the competition virtually, where 188 participants from 13 states showcased innovative solutions to pressing societal challenges.
36-hour Hackathon to find innovative solutions
The BIT Sindri team participated in the software edition of the competition. Led by Saurabh Pandey, the team included Adarsh Kumar, Writika Kumari, Animesh Kumar, Mohit Kumar, and Sumit Kumar.
During the intense 36-hour hackathon, the team focused on finding innovative solutions to challenges in healthcare, smart technology, and sustainability.

Sharing his experience, Saurabh Pandey stated, “It was a very exciting and challenging experience for us. Three sessions of monitoring and evaluation enhanced our projects and helped our innovation move ahead.”
Acknowledgment of mentors’ guidance
The team credited their success to their strong teamwork, dedication, and commitment to solving real-world problems. They expressed gratitude for the platform provided by the Smart India Hackathon.
“We are grateful for Smart India Hackathon which provided us the platform that helped us to learn, cooperate, and move ahead,” the team members said.
The team also acknowledged the valuable mentorship of Dr. D.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) Ranchi, Dr. Pankaj Rai, Director of BIT Sindri, and Dr. Md Akram Khan, whose guidance played a pivotal role in their achievement.
