Dhanbad, Oct 8: The bodies of a man, his wife, and their two-year-old daughter were recovered from their home in Sijua New Siding Colony under Jogta police station, around 13 km from the district headquarters, late Tuesday evening. The deceased have been identified as Raja Ansari (26), Amina Khatoon (21), and their daughter Maira (2).

Upon receiving information, Jogta police reached the spot and rushed the three to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Police Suspect Suicide

Jogta Police Station Officer Pawan Kumar said that prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, though the exact cause will be determined after the post-mortem examination. The victim’s parents in Bokaro have been informed, and the police expect their statements to shed more light on the circumstances leading to the incident.

Neighbours told police that a yellow liquid was found in a utensil in the room where the bodies were discovered. The substance has been seized and sent for testing.

Couple Had Moved In a Week Ago

Residents of the colony said that Raja Ansari had returned home in the evening after working as a daily wage labourer in Katras. He was seen bringing green vegetables home. Roughly three hours later, the family was found unconscious inside the house.

Ansari had rented the house just a week ago. His parents live nearby in Daudnagar, Tetulmari. Neighbours also claimed that frequent arguments between the couple had been observed in recent days.

Police are investigating all angles, including the possibility of domestic discord leading to the suspected suicide.
