Ranchi, Jan. 3: The MLAs belonging to the ruling alliance parties in Jharkhand today expressed their complete confidence in Chief Minister Hemant Soren, embroiled in a legal battle with the ED in the land scam
According to a press release issued by the CM secretariat, an important meeting of ministers and MLAs of the ruling parties was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
“The latest political situation in the state was discussed in this meeting. The chief minister gave his views on the incident and informed everyone about it,” it added.
“On this occasion, all the MLAs expressed their full confidence in the chief minister,” the release added.
“They said that they are always with him and will remain so in future, too. In any situation, all of them are entirely united, and any conspiracy against the chief minister and the state government will not succeed,” the release added.
Leadership of Hemant Soren
They also said that the state government, under the leadership of Hemant Soren, is continuously working for development and public interest, which will continue.
It was widely speculated that Soren would discuss his successor if he faced any punitive action from the ED. The speculation got credence after JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad resigned from assembly and, in an interview with The Jharkhand Story, said that he vacated the seat for Hemant Soren or his wife Kalpana Soren to contest elections from there.
BJP offensive
However, the BJP went on the offensive and shot off a letter to the Governor urging him not to allow a non-MLA (read Kalpana Soren) to take oath as chief minister, given the short tenure of the 5th State Assembly. Governor CP Radhakrishnan will also be outside Jharkhand till January 8.
