Dhanbad, April 3: The much-anticipated inter-state Dhanbad Book Fair is set to begin tomorrow at the District Board Ground.

Organized by the Bengali Welfare Society, the event will run for ten days from April 4 to April 13, featuring renowned publishing houses from Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, and Maharashtra.

Cultural Performances and Intellectual Activities

Alongside the extensive book collection, the fair will host intellectual discussions and cultural programs.

Esteemed Bangla artists from Kolkata, including Shubhrakanti Chattopadhyay, Surin Suraiya, Swaraj Bhattacharya, and Shobhan Sunder Bose (Kobitar Band), will entertain visitors with special performances.

The closing day on April 13 will feature a special performance by Mansur Fakir Khan and his team.

Fair Timings and Special Attractions

Rolling out the details, Bengali Welfare Society Secretary Gopal Bhattacharya announced that the fair will be open daily from 4 PM to 10 PM. Entry is free for students up to Class XII.

The society will honor young blood donors (under 30) on April 5, while a ‘Sit and Draw’ competition will take place on April 6 at 10:30 AM. Additionally, a debate competition under the Student Forum is scheduled for April 6, 7, and 10.

55 Stalls Featuring Prominent Publishers

The fair will feature 55 stalls showcasing books from renowned publishers and booksellers, including Yogda Satsang (Ranchi), SK Book Store (Kolkata), Pick The Book (Patna), Upendra Upendra (Pune), Ananda, Daya, Woodpecker, Dolphin, Mousumi Prakashani, Kanan Prakashani, Book Club, Sahitya Mandir, Chitralekha, Baibhav, and Allied Book Store.

Bengali Welfare Society President Atanu Gupta, Treasurer Hiranmaya Misra, and key members Sapan Majhi, Narayan Roy Majhi, Subhashit Sengupta, Gangadhar Bhui, and Vinayak Ghosh were present at the announcement.
