Dhanbad, April 26: The Dhanbad Cricket Association (DCA) has terminated the membership of former general secretary and state panel umpire, SA Rahman, citing charges of indiscipline.

Rahman, who is also a life member of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), now faces expulsion from the DCA following a unanimous decision by the managing committee.

DCA president Manoj Kumar after the committee meeting said that Rahman had violated association regulations by recording videography during the Annual General Meeting and making objectionable comments against the association.

“His explanation was not found satisfactory. Hence, the Managing Committee unanimously resolved to cancel his membership,” Kumar told media persons.

SA Rahman Responds to Termination
When contacted, SA Rahman said he had not yet received any official termination letter from the DCA.
“After receiving the letter, I will make my comment,” he briefly stated.
Resentment Among DCA Veterans
The decision to cancel Rahman’s membership has sparked significant resentment among senior members of the DCA. Several veteran members expressed that direct cancellation was a harsh step, and that Rahman should have been suspended for three to five years instead, considering his major contributions to the development of cricket in the district.
A senior member remarked, “The DCA seems to be following the path of former state president Amitabh Choudhary, who also used to remove members arbitrarily and directly.”
Rahman’s is 3 Time DCA General Secretary
SA Rahman had an extensive association with the DCA, having served three terms as general secretary. In 2004, he was elected with a significant margin but resigned after differences with then-JSCA president Amitabh Choudhary (IPS).
In 2006, he was again elected as general secretary, defeating ex-Ranji player and Tata Steel sports officer Avinash Kumar by a wide margin—Rahman secured 88 votes to Avinash’s 30. He reclaimed the post once more in 2014.
