Dhanbad, Dec 19: Anjay Kumar, Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Sr. DOM) of the Dhanbad Rail Division under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, has been selected to receive the prestigious ‘Rail Ati Vishisht Seva Puraskar’. He is the sole officer from ECR to receive this esteemed national award.

The award will be presented to Anjay Kumar by Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on December 21 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, during the 69th Railway Week national ceremony.

The Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar is one of the highest honours given to railway officers and employees for exceptional service, achievements, and commitment to the organization.

Anjay Kumar’s exceptional contribution includes record coal loading and ensuring the proper supply of coal to power plants across the country, especially during the monsoon season.

His innovation of using double racks for coal transportation helped maintain a smooth supply of coal without disruption to power plants.

His efforts in streamlining rack availability, along with record freight loading and revenue generation, have significantly contributed to the success of the Dhanbad Division.

Dhanbad’s freight loading success

His efforts led to the Dhanbad Division securing the top position in freight loading among 58 railway divisions across India.

Under Anjay Kumar’s leadership, Dhanbad Division emerged as the leader in freight loading, registering a record 125.95 million tons (mt), surpassing Bilaspur and Chakradharpur Divisions, which ranked second and third, respectively.

Fourth award for Anjay Kumar

This is the fourth award for Anjay Kumar, a 2013 batch railway officer. He previously received the prestigious ‘GM’ award in 2019 when he was posted at Barkakana as DTM, and again as Coal Area Manager.

Awards for four other ECR staff

In addition to Sr. DOM Anjay Kumar, four employees from East Central Railway have also been recognized. Shyam Sunder Prasad (Pointsman, Sonepur Division), Sanjiv Kumar (Chief Commercial Observer, DDU), Kunj Bihari Lal (Senior Section Engineer, Dhanbad), and Praveen Ranjan (Dhanbad) have all been selected for their exceptional service.
