Jharkhand News: Dhanbad Rail Division tops nationally in freight loading again

Dhanbad, Feb 3: The Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) has once again secured the top position among the 258 railway divisions across the country for freight loading and freight revenue earnings in January 2025.

A senior official from the Dhanbad Rail Division confirmed that in January, the division achieved a record freight loading of 17.43 million tonnes (MT), surpassing the Bilaspur Rail Division (17.08 MT) and Khurda Road Railway Division (16.85 MT) which secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Record Freight Loading for the Year

From April 2024 to January 2025, Dhanbad Rail Division continued its dominance by registering the highest total freight loading at 160.36 MT. Bilaspur Rail Division followed with 156.13 MT, while Khurda Road Division recorded 134.23 MT during the same period.

Highest Freight Revenue Earnings

In terms of revenue, Dhanbad Rail Division also led the nation, generating the highest freight revenue of ₹2,236.11 crores in January 2025. Bilaspur Division earned ₹1,972.24 crores, and Khurda Road Division earned ₹1,277.43 crores in the same month.
