Dhanbad, March 22: Senior officials of the Dhanbad Rail Division and leaders of East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) discussed pressing issues, including the upgradation of all department employees from the  Rs 4600 to Rs 5400 pay scale, at the annual meeting on Friday.

The meeting  was held in the Dhanbad Divisional Rail auditorium.  Senior personnel officer of the division Ajit Kumar and personnel officer RR Lakra presided over the meeting while additional general secretary of ECRKU Md Ziauddin represented the employees. Central committee president DK Pandey was also present.

Union officials of all branches of ECRKU Dhanbad Division presented the list of issues of employees of their respective areas at the meeting.

ECRKU leaders at the meeting raised demands and urged management to set up a committee and prioritize sick employees’ issues.

The union leaders demanded the availability of beds in Patratu Railway Hospital and strongly protested the inhuman treatment of employees by the assistant divisional engineer and PW I officer at Tori station. The union leaders also demanded that senior DME check illegal transfers and misbehaviour with workers.

“We reiterated our burning demand of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) coverage for all employees who joined before the December 22, 2003 notification,” said a union leader. At the meeting, ECRKU leaders put up their demands of upgradation of the pay scale of Rs 4600 to Rs 5400 for employees of all departments.

ECRKU leaders, including central assistant secretary OM Prakash, central organizing secretary Netajee Subhash, spokesperson NK Khawas, Somen Dutta, divisional union leaders Sunil Singh, RN Choudhary, MP  Mahto, PK Sinha, BK Saw, BK Dubey, I M Singh, RK Singh, BB Singh, Chandan Kumar Shukla, Ajit Kumar UK Singh, CP Pandey, JK Saw, and Sweta Kumara addressed the meeting.
