Dhanbad sports body holds rally to mark World Olympic Day

Dhanbad, June 23: To celebrate World Olympic Day, the Dhanbad District Olympic Association organized a vibrant rally and launched a week-long series of sports events on Monday.

The rally, flagged off by Sunil Kumar, Deputy Director of Doon Public School, began at the school’s Kusum Vihar campus and proceeded through Koylanagar. Over 200 participants, including athletes, sports officials, and enthusiasts, took part in the event, showcasing their commitment to Olympic values and fitness.

Ranjeet Kesri, General Secretary of the Dhanbad District Olympic Association, stated that the rally was held as per the directive of the national Olympic body. A variety of sporting events, including table tennis and volleyball tournaments, were also inaugurated and will continue until June 29, which is observed as National Sports Day.

The event saw participation from several notable figures, including Jharkhand Olympic Association Vice-President Saket Kumar Sinha, Joint Secretary Mridul Bose, and senior members of the District Table Tennis Association such as Ajay Mahajan and Kripa Shankar, Doon Public School Vice-Principal Priyaranjan Kumar and others.

Kesri also informed that an exhibition volleyball match between men’s and women’s teams would be held in the evening at the Volleyball Stadium in Hirapur Park Market, as part of the ongoing Olympic Day celebrations.
