Jamshedpur, Sept 27: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at the Chhath Ghat near Workers College in Mango, when a differently-abled elderly man was swept away by the strong current of the river Subernarekha.

Eyewitnesses reported that the man reached the ghat, leaving his shoes and walker at the riverbank, and entered the water for his ritual bath.

Local residents alerted the Mango police, who arrived at the spot promptly and began an investigation.

The man’s shoes and walker were recovered from the site, but his identity remains unknown. Police have decided to involve divers in the search for his body.

The elderly man often visited the ghat, but due to his physical disability, he faced difficulties in walking.
