Dhanbad, Sept 26: Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chairman, Virendra Kumar Tiwari, on Friday carried out a surprise inspection of the Dhanbad Divisional Jail and directed officials to ensure better services for inmates.
Officials said the inspection was conducted on the instructions of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). The inspection team included Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Aarti Mala, Sub-Judge-cum-DLSA Secretary Mayank Tushar Topno, Civil Court Registrar I.Z. Khan, and members from LADCS. Additional Collector-cum-Acting Jail Superintendent Vinod Kumar was also present.

Review of Jail Facilities
Led by Judge Tiwari, the team inspected all sections of the jail premises, interacting directly with inmates to inquire about their health, medical treatment, drinking water, food quality, and legal representation in ongoing cases.

The Principal District and Sessions Judge instructed the jail doctor to refer seriously ill inmates to higher medical centres for advanced treatment. The team also reviewed facilities at the prison hospital, library, kitchen, vocational training centre, and the meditation-cum-yoga hall.
Interaction with Inmates
Team members spoke directly with prisoners to understand their concerns and directed the jail administration to ensure that all entitlements under the Jail Manual are properly provided.

The inspection team also included Jail Doctor Rajeev Kumar Singh, LADCS Chief Kumar Vimalendu, Deputy Chief Ajay Kumar Bhatt, Assistant Counsels Shailendra Jha, Suman Pathak, Neeraj Goyal, Kanhaiya Lal Thakur, Swati Kumari, Muskan Chopra, and Civil Court Assistant Arun Kumar.
