Jamshedpur, Aug 29: A 47-year-old doctor was abducted on his way home from his clinic under the Rajnagar thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 30 km away from here on Thursday morning.
The body of the murder victim identified as B Mondal was found lying in a jungle under the Kowali thana area about 20 km away from Rajnagar in the East Singhbhum district in the forenoon.
Two assailants arrested
The Kowali police has, however, succeeded to nab two of the assailants involved in the abduction-cum-murder after barricading the Hata-Kowali road having got a tip-off about the fleeing assailants.
The Seraikela-Kharsawan SP Mukesh Lunayat confirmed the incident.
“The doctor was abducted in a car and subsequently murdered inside the vehicle itself before the body was dumped in a jungle in the Kowali thana area. From the preliminary investigation it appears that the doctor was strangulated to death,” said Lunayat while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
The SP, on being asked, said the motive behind the murder might be extortion but it is too early to confirm it to be the reason.

One assailant escapes
The Kowali thana OC, Dhananjay Paswan said a third man was involved in the abduction-cum-murder but he has managed to escape.
According to sources, Dr Mondal who had a reputation as a good medical practitioner had come out of his clinic at Piyalgora to go to his house in Sijulata.
But as soon as he got into his car, the criminals who were around in another car forced the doctor to get out of his car at gunpoint and made him sit in their car.
According to sources, the criminals murdered the doctor in the car and dropped the body in a forest stretch about 20 km away under the Kowali thana area.
Eyewitness informed police about abduction
Incidentally, someone had watched while the doctor was being abducted and had informed the Rajnagar police which had subsequently put the police stations of the adjoining areas, including the Kowali thana on alert.
It was due to the alacrity shown by the Kowali police that the car in which the assailants were fleeing was intercepted and two of the assailants could be arrested.
