DPS Ranchi organises 'Ad Meliora' quizzing fest

Ranchi, Oct 26: DPS Ranchi organised a remarkable Inter School Quizzing Festival -“Ad Meliora” 2024 on 26th October 2024 showcasing the intellectual prowess of young minds from various educational institutions all over Jharkhand. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of participants and spectators, with students displaying their knowledge and quick thinking in a battle of wits.

Vinay Kumar, District Education Officer, Ranchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dr. Alok Kumar, Director, DAV Alok was the Guest of Honour.

20 schools from Jharkhand participate

More than 200 participants from 20 schools across the state of Jharkhand took part in this initiative. The event aimed to foster healthy competition, encourage teamwork and ignite a passion for learning among the youth. The event was held in the sprawling Vivekananda Auditorium of DPS Ranchi.

Sharda Global School, Shradhanand Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School, St. Jagat Gyan Senior Secondary Public School, St. Jagat Gyan Maharshi Mehi Public School, Bishop Westcott Girls School (Namkum), Bridgeford School, DAV (Bariatu), DAV (Gandhinagar), Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, Holy Child Public School, Kairali School, Lady KC Roy Memorial School, ODM Sapphire Global School, S.R. DAV Pundag, Sarla Birla Public School, Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir,  Star International School (Piska), Vidya Vikas Public School, Vivekananda Vidya Mandir sent their crown quizzers for participating in this contest accompanied by their mentors.

Quiz competition in three stages

The Quiz Competition was conducted in three stages. A wide range of questions related to popular culture viz entertainment (such as films, music, television, video games), sports, news, politics, fashion, technology etc were asked by the Quizmasters.

Apart from Quiz, three more competitions ‘Cryptic Crossword’, ‘Cryptic Hunt’ and ‘Spell Bee’ were also organised under this initiative.

S.R. DAV Pundag bags first position in quiz

After the final round of the quiz competition, the team of S.R. DAV Pundag was bestowed with the First Position and they bagged the cash prize of Rs.6000/-. Team DPS Ranchi grabbed the Second Position and won the cash prize of Rs. 4000/-. Also, Team Vidya Vikas Public School secured the Third Position and bagged the cash prize of Rs. 2000/-.

Additional competition results

In Cryptic Crossword competition, team DPS Ranchi were declared as the winners with the First Position. Team DAV Bariatu grabbed the Second Position while Team DPS Ranchi secured the Third Position.

In Cryptic Hunt competition, team DPS Ranchi were declared as winners with the First Position and also grabbed the Second Position while team Bridgeford School secured the Third Position.

In Spell Bee competition, team Sharda Global Public School were declared as winners with the First Position. Team ODM Sapphire Global School grabbed the Second Position while team DAV Bariatu secured the Third Position in Best Spelling Team Category while in Best Speller Category, Prakhar Kumar (ODM Sapphire Global School) bagged First Position, Devishi (DAV Bariatu), Ayesha Tiu (Lady KC Roy Memorial School) and Fatma Zahra (BWGS, Namkum) secured the Second Position while Ishika Anand (DPS Ranchi) and Aadya Sharma (Sharda Global School) bagged the Third Position.

The school which emerged with maximum points was DPS Ranchi, however the best school trophy was bagged by DAV Bariatu as it got the second highest points after DPS Ranchi, which was not vying for the Champions trophy award being the host school.

Appreciation from Chief Guest and Principal

The Chief Guest of the event Vinay Kumar, District Education Officer appreciated all the participants and spoke about an unlimited potential in every individual that can be honed at every opportunity and at every stage.

Principal of the school, Dr. R.K.Jha, applauded the inquisitiveness existing in children and the inclination towards gaining knowledge and developing intelligence.

It is worth mentioning here that the overall event was coordinated by the students of DPS Ranchi because the school believes in instilling leadership qualities, organizational skills, team management and coordination skills in its students. The students were also felicitated with a memento and certificate. The event culminated with great enthusiasm and zest.
