Dhanbad, April 25: The East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) celebrated the 101st foundation day of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) — one of the country’s oldest railway employees’ organizations — at its Dhanbad branch office on Friday.

The occasion was marked by a celebratory event where union leaders cut a cake and recalled the contributions and achievements of AIRF over the past century. Founded on April 25, 1924, AIRF has played a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights and welfare of railway employees.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, ECRKU Additional General Secretary Md Ziauddin expressed pride in being part of India’s oldest and largest railway employees’ organization.

“All India Railwaymen’s Federation not only opposed the anti-worker policies of British rule but also continued its struggle post-independence, fighting in the interest of railway employees,” he said.
ECRKU Dhanbad Division spokesperson Nil Kamal Khawas informed that the AIRF foundation day was celebrated across all union offices in the country.

Several senior ECRKU leaders including J.K. Saw, A.K. Tiwari, Randhir Kumar, Pintu Nandan, Viswajeet Mukherjee, Raj Kumar, Dilip Gupta, Binod Bihari Gope, Surendra Chouhan, Shambhu Kumar, and Ranjit Kumar Yadav were present at the Dhanbad function.
