Ranchi, August 31: Veteran Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader of Santhal, Lobin Hembrom, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday. At a ceremony held at the BJP state office in Ranchi, Lobin took party membership.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Kolhan Tiger and BJP leader Champai Soren, BJP leader Sita Soren, State President Babulal Marandi, and Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri were present on this occasion.
After joining the BJP, Lobin said that he joined the party with faith in Prime Minister Modi and the Home Minister.
JMM during Guruji’s time no longer exists
Speaking about Guruji (Shibu Soren), he said, “I am still a devotee of him. He taught me politics by holding my hand.” Lobin mentioned that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha during Guruji’s time no longer exists. Senior and veteran leaders are being disrespected in the party now. The strength that once existed in the bow and arrow is no longer there.

He added that he had worked sincerely to build and strengthen the JMM. On the issue of infiltration, Lobin said that Bangladeshi infiltrators have taken over Santhal Pargana and are seizing the land of tribals. He also stated that “Love Jihad” is taking place in Jharkhand, leading the state towards deterioration.
Supporting the BJP, he said that the party respects the dignity of tribals, and the people of the state are realizing this. He pledged to fight for the rights of tribals along with the BJP.
JMM had expelled Lobin for six years
Notably, a month ago, the Speaker had terminated Lobin Hembrom’s membership in a case related to defection. He had contested the Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate, going against the party line.
As a result, JMM also expelled him for six years. Lobin is considered a prominent tribal leader in the state.
